What Is Occidental Jandía Mar Really Like?

Occidental Jandía Mar is the most complete “big family resort” option in this Fuerteventura group. It has 487 rooms, two large outdoor pools, a dedicated children’s pool, Barcy Water Park, kids’ club, teen facilities, evening shows and family rooms that can sleep up to six. Families who want the hotel to provide most of the entertainment can comfortably spend several days without leaving the resort.

The hotel sits around 600 metres from Jandía Beach. It is not directly on the sand, but the elevated setting gives many rooms and terraces wide views over the southern coast. The walk back can feel more demanding because of the slope, so families with buggies or very young children may prefer to use hotel transport or a taxi when available.

Children are genuinely built into the resort concept rather than treated as an afterthought. Barcy Club runs activity workshops for younger guests, the waterpark adds slides and splash play, and there are playground and entertainment areas. For older children, sports, games and the wider Jandía activity scene provide more independence than a toddler-focused hotel.

Room choice is another major advantage. Standard rooms are fine for smaller families, but there are quadruple rooms, family rooms and connecting-room configurations. Some family rooms can sleep up to six, which is valuable because large-family accommodation is often one of the hardest parts of booking an All Inclusive holiday.

Dining is broader than most mid-range family hotels. Mimosa is the main buffet, La Toscana provides Mediterranean à la carte dining, La Higuera handles snacks, and there are pool, lobby and theatre bars. The standard All Inclusive programme includes buffet meals, drinks and snacks, while Premium Service adds extra benefits and more access to La Toscana.

This is also the strongest hotel here for families who want a mix of resort facilities and outdoor adventure. Jandía Beach, Morro Jable, Jandía Natural Park, dolphin trips, 4x4 excursions and watersports are all realistic days out. The main strength: scale and breadth of family facilities. The main compromise: it is a large resort, and some families may prefer the more intimate feel of AluaVillage or a central Caleta de Fuste hotel.
