Hotel & Resort Guide: Occidental Jandia Playa

Occidental Jandía Playa is a sizeable resort on the southern Jandía peninsula, close to the long beach that makes this part of Fuerteventura so popular. The hotel is best understood as a full resort rather than a base for sightseeing every day: there are hundreds of rooms, multiple pool areas, organised activities, bars and dining, with Morro Jable available when you want a change of scene.

The property has 612 double rooms, 19 suites and three master suites. Current hotel information lists four swimming pools and a broad sports and entertainment programme. Dining includes buffet service and additional themed options, while the resort’s bars and terraces make it easy to stay on site through the evening. This southern location gives a much longer airport transfer than Caleta de Fuste, but the trade-off is immediate access to the Jandía coastline.

What happens during the day?

kids activities, sports, organised entertainment and professional shows. Pool terraces and the hotel’s main facilities make it possible to spend complete resort days without needing to leave, while the surrounding resort gives you an easy alternative when you want a beach, shops, cafés or an excursion.

What happens in the evening?

Evening programmes vary by season and occupancy, but guests should expect the hotel’s bars and social areas to form the centre of the night, with live entertainment, music or shows where offered. Always check the current programme on arrival because entertainment schedules and restaurant opening nights can change through the year.

What Is It Like for Families?

The large resort layout, multiple pools and regular activities work well for families who prefer everything in one place. The long beach gives plenty of room for sand days, although families with small children should always check sea conditions because the Atlantic can be livelier than Caleta de Fuste’s sheltered bay.

What Is It Like for Couples?

Couples get long coastal walks, sea views and plenty of space around the resort. Morro Jable is close enough for restaurants and harbour evenings, while the hotel itself is large enough for a relaxed stay without needing to leave every day.

Step Outside: What Is Around the Hotel?

Jandía Beach runs along the front of the resort area. Shops and bars are available nearby, while Morro Jable’s old town and harbour are a short taxi or bus ride away.

More About Jandía & Morro Jable

Jandía is the long beach-resort area in the far south of Fuerteventura, merging into Morro Jable. Its biggest attraction is the enormous pale-sand coastline, backed by a promenade and the protected landscapes of the Jandía peninsula. Morro Jable adds a more traditional town and harbour atmosphere, giving visitors restaurants, shops and local life beyond the larger resort hotels.

Things to do in Jandía

Walk the long beach and lighthouse promenade, visit Morro Jable harbour, take a boat or dolphin-watching trip, explore the wild Cofete coast, visit Sotavento’s lagoon beaches, spend a day at Oasis Wildlife or tackle walking routes in the Jandía Natural Park. Strong walkers can consider Pico de la Zarza.

Evenings in the resort

The hotel zone is generally relaxed, with much of the entertainment taking place inside the larger resorts. For a change of atmosphere, Morro Jable has seafront restaurants, cafés and bars and is the better choice for an evening away from the hotel.

Airport Transfer Time

Fuerteventura Airport is around 84km away. A private transfer is usually about 60–75 minutes, while shared coaches can take longer with stops.

Times are approximate private-transfer driving times and can vary with traffic and shared-coach hotel stops.

Build Your Own Occidental Jandia Playa Holiday

Start with the hotel you actually want, then compare flights from the UK airport that suits you. Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle, Glasgow and London can all produce different dates, times and fares.

Choose your own flights

Compare departure airport, baggage allowance, arrival time and the flight schedule into Fuerteventura Airport rather than accepting a fixed package combination.

Arrange the transfer that suits you

Private transfer, shared shuttle, taxi or car hire can all work in Fuerteventura. Match the transfer to your resort, especially because journey times are very different between Caleta de Fuste, Corralejo and Jandía.
